If you're sick of the same old vacation spent pushing through crowds of your fellow countrymen and women in a foreign country, perhaps you'll be tempted by a different sort of holiday - one that offers excitement, escape, and best of all a chance to reconnect with the great outdoors! A wildlife escape holiday ticks all these boxes and more, and can be organized for a surprisingly low price, particularly if you find one of the cheap holiday packages that travel agents have on offer. Not only will you be one of the privileged few who come into contact with some of the world's rarest wildlife, you will also be able to explore parts of the globe which are scantily populated and infrequently visited by other tourists.
One of the most popular package holidays available on the market, wildlife-related or otherwise, is the safari. Traditionally safaris take place in areas of Africa which have large numbers of wild exotic animals, but it is also possible to go on a jungle safari in parts of Asia and South America as well. Generally speaking, the aim of a safari holiday is primarily to 'find' as many different wild animals as possible. If it was an African safari, this would mean searching for lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, leopards, rhinoceroses, buffalo, and many more. In more tropical locations you may instead search for panda, tigers, gorillas, exotic ape species, and even rare birds like the toucan. The standard safari holiday break should include the safari journey itself, during which you are accompanied by an expert guide and an animal tracker who will ensure you see as many 'big game' animals as possible. Accommodation varies depending on the initial price paid for the holiday package - if you opt for the top-of-the-range safari hotels and resorts, you can kick back in style in five star luxury; if you decide instead to go for the budget option you may be put up in luxury tents or safari vans.
If hot weather isn't your thing, you may instead want to consider going to the Arctic or Antarctic on a cruise or exploration holiday. If you're interested in going south, there are a great many cold-climate animals which you can see on your way to and on Antarctica. Seals, whales, penguins and many migratory birds inhabit the islands around and including this cold southern land. Heading towards the north pole, meanwhile, you may be lucky enough to catch sight of a polar bear, a fierce walrus, or any number of wonderful Arctic wolves, birds and small animals. One of the easiest ways to get to these remote locations is on a cruise ship. Many cruises offer cheap package holidays that go on journeys towards the Arctic and the Antarctic, usually stopping off in locations along the way (if heading north, this may mean going through the territorial waters of Canada, Greenland or Norway; if south through the waters of Australia and New Zealand or Chile).
